Mentoring

If you're studying, looking for your first job, or trying to work out what kind of work you want to do, you can reach out to me. I'm writing this with younger people in mind, but there's no age limit on being unsure about your next move.

I don't have an impressive list of awards to justify giving anyone career advice. I've started things, worked in very different industries, lived in different places, and taken risks. I've learned by trying things and seeing what happens, often getting them wrong first. That's what I can share.

I'm a bit uncomfortable with the formal idea of mentoring. I'd rather put my time into making good work and let people take something from that if they want to. But I also don't think you should have to figure everything out on your own. Starting university, looking for a job, or realizing you're not sure what fits you can come with a lot of pressure. It's normal to be confused.

If you're thinking about moving to the U.S. or San Francisco, or preparing to apply to a particular company, those are things we can talk about. I'm also happy to look at your portfolio or website, or talk through how you're presenting your work on social media. Sometimes the work is there, but you're struggling to explain what you do and why a company should care. We can look at that too.
